Biker hurt in crash
A MOTORCYCLIST from Edinburgh has been seriously injured in a collision with a car near Peebles.
The accident happened on the A703 near Cringletie, just before 10am on Sunday.
A 62-year-old biker was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious leg injuries as a result of the smash.
The female driver of the car was not seriously hurt.
Peeblesshire News photographer Bill Brodie was one of the first on the scene.
He said: "The man was in a pretty bad way. His right leg was in a terrible state and there was blood running down the road.
"Luckily an off-duty fireman was travelling on the road at the same time and we began administering first aid and keeping the guy comfortable. It seemed to take an age for the emergency services to get there though."
The road was closed until almost 3pm while police investigations were carried out.
This latest crash is one of many serious accidents on Tweeddale roads in the past months.
Last month a Dumfries man died in a crash between a car and a van on the A701 north of Moffat.
Hotel porter Robert McCormick, 51, was killed in the collision between his silver Renault Megane and a red Fiat Ducato at the Devil's Beef Tub on Saturday, June 18.
And the month before a 67-year old woman was killed while driving on the A72 near Innerleithen.
It is understood that Patricia McNay, from Melrose, took ill shortly before the crash on May 26.
