Appeal for Alec's trinkets

SENTIMENTAL trinkets left on a Peebles war hero's grave by his young daughter have been stolen.
And a Royal Marine's medallion has also been swiped from the burial place of Alec Lucas in Peebles Cemetery.
Alec was killed in action on November 24, 2009, during a tour of duty with 45 Commando.
A Trust set up in his memory has already raised over £50,000 for local football causes and the Royal Marines Benevolent Trust.
But last week, family members made the grim discovery that little treasures left by Alec's daughter, Cara, had been removed from his grave along with a medallion left by a Commando colleague.
Alec's father, Adrian told us: "I just hope that a child has taken these things without knowing what they mean.
"Cara left little glass hearts on her father's grave - they are not worth anything - but we would really like to have them back. The medallion was left by a fellow Royal Marine Assault Engineer last year - they must have travelled a long way to bring it to Alec's grave."
The medallion is described as red on one side and green on the other.
Adrian added: "I hope whoever took these items can do the decent thing and return them."
