POLICE are urging householders to be vigilant after two break-ins in Peebles.
Brazen thieves carried out the daring raids during the day, making off with jewellery, electrical items and cash.
The crooks struck at a house in Caledonian Road, between 12 noon and 3pm on Monday, 21 November.
They entered by kicking in the back door whilst the occupiers were out, and made off with an Ipod Touch, gold chain and a total of £100 in cash.
On the same day and within the same timeframe the thieves also entered a house in Springhill Road.
This time four laptops, an Ipod and more than £100 in cash was taken.
A house in Maxton was also entered between 7.15pm on Sunday, November 20 and 4.30pm on Monday, November 21, during which jewellery worth around £10,000 was stolen.
Police are hunting a man wearing a yellow jacket, who was seen acting suspiciously in the area, in connection with both Peebles raids.
A police spokesperson said: "I would urge all householders to be extra vigilant and security concious at present. This latest housebreaking was carried out during the day so we believe the crooks are targeting the homes of those out at work.
"Opportunist thieves take advantage of insecure windows and doors, as well as many insecure garages that householders forget about. Please remember to secure all your doors and windows.
"If you are planning on being away during the day or for a weekend, then try to give the appearance that your house is occupied.
"Report any suspicious vehicles or persons seen in the locality to Peebles Police Station on 01721 720637."
