Camera, lights, run
A PEEBLESSHIRE sprinter has already had her shot at London 2012 glory - for New Zealand and Sweden.
Stacey Downie from West Linton made her acting debut last month in the new British movie Fast Girls.
The 24-year-old, who is the current Scottish 100 metres champion, spent seven days filming at London's Crystal Palace stadium along with the likes of Bradley James of Merlin fame, Room with a View star Rupert Graves, and Being Human's Lenora Crichlow.
But she has revealed her big screen debut doesn't end in gold medal glory. Stacey told us: "The film is about two girls who are part of the British sprint relay team. I was asked to be the final leg runner for New Zealand and I had to finish fourth.
"The girl running the second leg for Sweden got injured so I had to stand in for her as well. I actually run two legs of the same race - for different countries."
The administrator with Edinburgh City Council answered an ad on the UK Athletics website seeking sprinters to act as extras for the big budget film.
And within a few hours casting bosses were on the phone to offer her a part.
Stacey added: "I didn't really know who was in the film although I did recognise the man from Merlin. The other runners seemed to know who a lot of the other actors were.
"It was a great experience. Even though we were filming from 6am to 6pm each day it was still really exciting. There was a lot of good club runners from around London involved and I got to know a few of them really well. It was a good experience and I can't wait for the film coming out."
Fast Girls, which is directed by Regan Hall and co-scripted by Doctor Who's Noel Clarke, will hit cinemas in the summer to tie in with the London 2012 Olympics.
