Road closed twice following crash
THE A703 had to be closed twice last week after a truck crashed and careered down a 20ft embankment.
Police believe icy conditions led to thecrash - around a mile north of Peebles at Mallings Cross.
The 23-year-old driver was cut free from the vehicle and taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary to be treated for serious injuries.
The road was temporarily closed to traffic between Peebles and Leadburn for over two hours from around 6am while the man was being rescued.
Howling winds and freezing rain had given way to widespread ice overnight which led to the man's truck skidding off the road.
And a warning was issued by the Met Office for icy conditions.
Police closed to road again on Sunday morning to allow for the recovery of the vehicle.
