THE Peebles Field of Dreams is now beginning to take shape.

Last Sunday morning members of Peebles Round Table got their forks and hoes out to help with the finer preparation of the soil in the "Field of Dreams" at the junction of March Street and Dovecot Lade. Graham Irvine, Contractors had previously provided the heavy equipment to prepare the land for planting later in September.

The project when completed will see the area come alive with colour and beautiful scents as well as attracting butterflies, insects and small birds. The field will hopefully regenerate itself each year and provide a small oasis of calm, colourful countryside each year.

Peebles Community Council received a grant in April to enable the "Field of Dreams" to be planted and to provide an education board. The grant of £1200 was awarded by the Queens Diamond Jubilee Fund, administered by Scottish Borders Council.
