OVER 60 members of Cardrona Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Rainbows and Brownies ran a 'collective marathon' around Cardrona Village Green recently to raise money for the uniformed organisations in the village.

They were joined by parents and family, and each child ran a minimum of one lap of the village green (quarter of a mile), with some managing an amazing 18 laps.

In total 180 laps were completed - equating to about 45 miles in total, or one and three-quarter marathons.

On the same day, one of the Scout leaders, Barry Hughes, ran the Moray Marathon in Grampian, also to raise money for Scouts and Guides in Cardrona, finishing in 3.34 hours.

Between the two events well over £1500 has been raised, a fantastic achievement by all the youngsters involved.

Councillor Catriona Bhatia, was the honorary starter of the Cardrona Marathon, and there was also home baking on sale - much of it baked by the youngsters.
