Cardrona Cadet William Jackson's date with Royalty

16-year-old William Jackson.

CARDRONA Air Cadet William Jackson enjoyed a royal appointment when the Princess Royal attended a Thanksgiving Church Service in Melrose.

William 16, who lives in Cardrona, is a pupil at Peebles High School and has been appointed as Lord Lt Cadet for Tweeddale.

The cadet accompanied Lord Lt Capt David Younger on the Royal Visit to Melrose by The Princess Royal and spent some time talking to Her Royal Highness.

And he will shortly undertake the final stages of his application to join the Royal Air Force. William will also accompany Capt Younger when he undertakes public duties during the coming year.
