ANOTHER major windfarm application for rural Tweeddale has been submitted with the Scottish Government.
Greenock-based 2020 want to erect a total of 22 turbines on land south of Tweedsmuir at Whitelaw Brae.
Concern has already been raised about the cumulative effect the development would have when viewed beside already operating Glenkarie Windfarm and the nearby Clyde Windfarm.
A planning application for neighbouring Earlshaugh is also currently being considered at Holyrood.
Members of Upper Tweed Community Council are planning to hold a public meeting about the latest application.
Local councillor Catriona Bhatia said: “The plans were discussed by members of the community council and it was felt that a public meeting should be held.
“The main concern seems to be that this will be close to other wind turbines and there will be a cumulative effect.” The Whitelaw Brae Windfarm will be located close to the A701, two miles south of Tweedsmuir, and above Fruid Reservoir.
The Scottish Government are consulting with Scottish Borders Council, Dumfries and Galloway and Transport Scotland.
