IMAGES have surfaced in East Asia showing the president of South Korea buying in rounds of Tennent’s Lager at his local pub.

The sight has made brewery bosses so happy that they hope the world leader will visit the company in Glasgow’s East End the next time he heads for the UK.

Moon Jae-in reportedly visited a pub around the corner from his Seoul presidential residence, the trendy SsangSsang beer pub in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

The pictures appeared in the country’s press this week.

Alan McGarrie, group brand director at Tennent’s, described how the beverage is enjoyed by “loyal punters in all corners of the world.”

He said: “But to see that South Korea’s president keeps his local stocked up with Scotland’s favourite beer shows he’s a real fan.

“We’re already looking forward to President Moon Jae-in’s next visit to the UK so we can invite him on a tour of our famous Wellpark home where Tennent’s has been brewing continuously on the same site since 1556.”

This is the second notable time Tennent’s Lager has had a presidential seal of approval, with Barack Obama giving the beer a public shout-out during a charity dinner in Scotland in 2016.
