With just 15 weeks to go before Scotland’s goes to the polls to vote in the Independence referendum local campaigners for a Yes vote are continuing to organise a large number of local events aimed at engaging the people of the Scottish Borders.

Yes Scottish Borders can now boast 14 active groups across the region with plans to establish more over the next few weeks.

Tomorrow (June 4) three of the broad range of the groups that support the YES movement will be speaking about the issues of the Referendum at a meeting in Walkerburn. Robin Macalpine of the Jimmy Reid Foundation joins Labour for Independence’s Allan Grogan and Christine Grahame MSP who will be available to be questioned on the concerns and hopes of local people on local issues and on Scotland’s future after a YES vote. The meeting takes place in Walkerburn Village Hall at 7pm.

Chair of Yes Scottish Borders, Calum Kerr from Cardrona said: “We are delighted to have such a fantastic panel for our Walkerburn event.

“We believe that this event gives the people of Walkerburn and surrounding area a fantastic opportunity to ask questions and discuss the issues around the Independence Referendum.

“The meeting is open to all whether they are Yes voters, No voters or they have yet to make up their mind.”
