Armed police swoop on West Linton

Around 40 people were locked inside the Old Bake House for over an hour last Friday evening while police dealt with a situation outside.
A customer who was in the restaurant at the time told us: “We were just out for a nice meal, when we realised something serious was going on.
“Before we knew it, someone locked the door and people were saying there was someone with an air rifle outside.
“It was very frightening, like a horror film.”
Social media was awash with live updates during the alleged incident.
They described how an armed response team were rushed to the village.
A West Linton resident added: “Everybody in the village is talking about this.”
A woman from the village appeared in private at Selkirk Sheriff Court on Monday.
Forty-six-year-old Jacqueline Woods, of Deanfoot Road, was charged on petition with breach of the peace, vandalism and possession of a knife and an air rifle on January 10 in West Linton.
Woods made no plea or declaration and the case was continued.
