A PEEBLESSHIRE businessman is taking his fight to relocate his company all the way to the Scottish Government.

Alastair Brown is the managing director of both Border Mix Limited and the Big Block Company.

Both firms operate from premises in and around the village of Dolphinton.

Mr Brown's attempt to relocate both businesses to a new two-hectare site, around 200 metres outside Dolphinton, failed to win approval from Scottish Borders Council.

It had attracted 15 letters of objection from concerned locals.

The full planning application for the erection of storage and distribution buildings, a garage and vehicle workshop, as well as a dwelling house was turned down by the local authority's planning committee in August.

The refusal was on grounds of no economic or operational justification for the proposals, the dwelling house didn't fit in with operational requirements, and the loss of soil at the proposed site.

Mr Brown has now appealed to the Scottish Government's Planning Appeals department for the refusal to be overturned.

A government reporter will consider the appeal over the coming months.
