A MEETING will be held next week to discuss the future of West Linton’s Village Centre.
Locals are invited to come along to the venue (pictured), in Raemartin Square, at 7.30pm on Monday to look at how the community can take ownership of the building.
The Peeblesshire News revealed last month that its future was in doubt after a property review by Scottish Borders Council.
The venue used to house the Registrars Office, which is no longer required by the local authority.
The Village Centre is used by a number of community groups, including the Whipman Play Society, the community council, the local drama group, and the historical society, which also uses it to store its archives.
Graham Tulloch, chairman of West Linton Community Council, said: “A couple of SBC officers have agreed to attend to provide us with information on how to go about a community asset transfer, and the costs and pitfalls associated in doing this.
“Those who would be willing to give their time and energy to progressing this project for years to come, should attend.”
