Sir, Through the courtesy of your columns we would like to thank everyone who supported our recent Charity Night, which was held in Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Club, on Saturday, September 6.

The night was organised to raise funds for the Edinburgh Centre for Neuro Oncology and was held in memory of two Peebles men, Drew Bolton and Eddie Copeland, who both lost their lives as a result of developing a brain tumour.

The event raised the grand total of £3350 and this was due to the kind generosity of so many people.

We would like to thank Peebles Ex-Servicemen’s Club committee and staff for their support in hosting the event in their club and to Bill Elliott for being the DJ.

Thanks also go to the many local businesses, hotels and individuals who kindly donated so many wonderful prizes, there are too many to mention individually.

Thank you to all our friends, neighbours and family who helped to sell tickets, raffle tickets and who helped prepare a delicious buffet.

Finally thanks to the many people who bought tickets and attended on the night and went on to help raise such a fantastic sum of money through buying raffle tickets, Irish bingo tickets and donating generously in the auction.

We were delighted to visit the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh to present them with the cheque for the amount raised.

We are, etc.
