SIR, Through the courtesy of your column Craig and I would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who came along to the Fragile X Society’s very first Scottish Fund Raising Dinner on Friday, October 10 National Fragile X Awareness Day.

The evening was a huge success and raised a staggering £5,000 and with matched funding through our work we are confident this total will be in excess of £6,000.

We would very much like to thank our friends and family who came along to support the event, I am at a loss for words to express how much this means to us.

The generosity of the businesses and local shops in Peebles who donated items for the tombola, raffle and auction was quite overwhelming and very much appreciated. I would really like to name each and ever one of the but I am sure that would take over your whole page.

I would like to extend our thanks to Peebles Hydro Hotel - the venue was stunning and the staff and service were first class.

Evan Balfour and his band BackGreen entertained us so well, the night just seemed to vanish in a flash once the dancing began - always the sign of a good night.

Thanks to Gavin Haggart from Pointaprint, Edinburgh for attending to all the printing for the event free of charge and lastly and by no means least Craig and I would like to thank Stuart Fraser from Caledonia for kitting Stuart and Matthew out in their kilts - wow they looked so smart and very handsome young men.

Already people are talking about next year.

I am, etc.
