SIR, I was interested to read that the Hydro and combined hotel group are making a healthy profit.

Meanwhile the leisure club members, who pay £30 a month, are being seriously overcharged as the facilities have been sub-standard since the new owners took over in March 2014 and, in fact, before.

In the gym the two exercise bikes are broken and have been for some time. Two bikes are insufficient, in any case, as they are the most popular pieces of equipment.

The pool is currently too cold and the ventilation system is broken making the changing rooms unbearably hot, particularly after exercising.

I contacted the new owners last March, when they took over, to raise my concerns. I was told new equipment would be in place soon, then it was to be at the end of October. This has come and gone. I was told to be patient which I have been. How much would a few new bikes cost?

I have now emailed the manager at Crieff Hydro on three occasions with no response. Brilliant customer service! I cannot believe this.

There was a meeting in October of interested people in Peebles and leisure club members to discuss the way forward to maximise the facilities. I was not invited, although they must have had my email address. I was told I would receive an update directly to me by the leisure club manager but this has never happened.

Peebles Hydro seems to have no regard for its leisure club members. At the very minimum the monthly cost should be reduced by 50% until the facilities are up to standard. This is what I intend to do but, you guessed it, they have not replied to my request to vary my direct debit!

I have spoken to other leisure club members and we are now at the point of despair.

It is a pity there is little local competition for the facilities as the Hydro is getting away with dire service and appalling customer relations.

I have now received a reply to my latest email to the hotel manager but it only says that improvements will be made.

I am, etc.
