The Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005
Notice Under Section 16(2)
Scottish Borders Council has prepared a Strategic Environmental Assessment report in accordance with Section 5(3) of the Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005. The document has identified, described and evaluated any likely significant effect on the environment of implementing the Local Plan Amendment and its reasonable alternatives.
Where to view the Environmental Report A copy of the environmental report and its appendices can be inspected on the Council website www.scotborders.gov.uk and Scottish Borders Council Headquarters, Newtown St Boswells.
How to comment on the Environmental Report If you would like to express your views on this environmental report please send comments to the following address by 4th February 2009 - Plans and Research Section, Planning and Economic Development Department, Scottish Borders Council, Newtown St Boswells, Melrose TD6 0SA. Alternatively, representations can be made by email to localplan@scotborders.gov.uk. Please state clearly whether you are objecting, supporting or making general comment. Under the Local Government (Access to Information) Act 1985, representations may be made available for public inspection.

Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that, on 18th December 2008, Scottish Borders Council agreed to disestablish the existing East and West Divisional Licensing Boards and constitute a single Scottish Borders Licensing Board. This will come into effect on 1st April 2009.
Notification of addresses and contact points will be published in due course.

POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL ACT 1999
POLLUTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL (SCOTLAND) REGULATIONS 2000
In accordance with paragraph 5 of schedule 4 to the above Regulations, Notice is hereby given that application has been made to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) for a Permit under regulation 7 of the Regulations by Scottish Coal Company Ltd in respect of activities being carried out namely crushing, screening and loading of coal in an installation at Auchencroth OCCS, Harlawmuir, Nr Penicuik, EH26 8NX.
The application contains a description of any foreseeable significant effects of emissions from the installation on the environment.
The application may be inspected, free of charge, at SEPA Clearwater House, Heriot Watt Research Park, Avenue North, Riccarton, Edinburgh, EH14 4AP between 0930 and 1630 on working days. Please quote Reference No PPC/B/1033591.
Written representation concerning this application may be made to SEPA at the above address, or sent to email address audrey.lees@sepa.org.uk and if received within 28 days of this Notice, will be taken into consideration in determining this application. Any such representations made by any person will be entered in a public register unless that person requests in writing that they should not be so entered. Where such a request is made there will be included in the register a statement indicating that representations have been made which has been the subject of such a request.
