RECENTLY I was fortunate to have the honour of joining the children and staff of West Linton School as they marched behind the West Linton Pipe Band with a great turnout of local people, to their wonderful new school. These are the wee jobs I get which compensate for some of the more difficult aspects of my job in council.

MY boyfriend and I had a bit of a heated argument this week. Not over the remote control, whose turn it was to cook or even who was due to take the bins out. No, this argument was over where we had seen a fantastic starling murmuration last year.

THIS summer at Kailzie I thought I would try something a bit different to bring kids and families out to see us. I decided to run short family friendly, free events in the mornings with a focus on having some sort of encounter with wildlife.

A LONELY chick was seen at the main nest site on Monday, August 12. It flew on to the nest and was calling repeatedly. We could not see if there was an adult nearby or whether it was just calling out in the hopes that a parent may be in the vicinity with a tasty fish to hand over.
