ROBBIE Dalgleish from Peebles has been given the opportunity to drive in the brand new "BRDC Formula 4" class of motor sports, which is scheduled to begin next year. The F4 class has been set up by Jonathan Palmer, the ex Formula 1 driver and British Racing Drivers Club, which is chaired by Derek Warwick, another ex Formula 1 driver. Details of the new formula can be found at www.formula 4.com.

The new series has been launched to help young British talent on their path towards Formula 1 by enabling talented drivers to move to single seat racing, whether from karting or junior car championships.

Robbie's talent has been recognised and a car has been reserved for him by the organiser of the event, who also run the Formula 3 and Formula 2 racing series.

A total of 24 cars will be built to race in this new class, which will be run in a series of races throughout the UK including Silverstone, Brands and Donnington. All the races will be televised.

There has been a tremendous response to the new formula and the 24 cars could have been sold to professional racing teams many times over. There is a long waiting list of teams ready to jump in should any of the current teams drop out.

This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Robbie, but unfortunately it comes at a price. The racing has been designed to "be affordable"- in motor racing terms - but in layman's terms it is still very expensive.

To be able to take this opportunity and become part of the new racing formula, Robbie needs more sponsorship. If you can help in any way for this young man to become another Peebles gold medal winner, please make contact with Robert Dalgleish on 01721 72100 or 07836 592593.
