FUTURE Andy Murrays and Laura Robsons took to the West Linton court last week for the annual Tweeddale Junior Tennis Championships.

And the large crowd were entertained by some thrilling matches in all four age-groups.

All four local clubs - Broughton, Innerleithen, Peebles and hosts, West Linton - were well represented A spokeswoman for the championships said: “In bright and sunny weather, the players entertained loads of spectators with many high quality and closely fought matches. “Congratulations to all the players for their fair play, to all the parents for making it a great and fun day, and to all the helpers on the day.” Olivia Murray from Peebles won the mixed-Under 8s, beating Jack Davie of West Linton in the final.

Leah Kane of Peebles triumphed in the Girls Under 10s following a close final with West Linton’s Hannah Begg.

The Boys Under 10s was also closely fought with Adam Clunie of West Linton beating his club-mate Ross Wolfenden in the final.

Zara Elliot from Innerleithen beat Kirsten Rodwell from West Linton in the final of the Girls Under 14s.

And there was an all West Linton final in the Under 14 Boys with Max Blundell getting the better of Adam Clunie.

Robyn Elliot from Innerleithen beat Under 14s champion, Zara Elliot, in the final of the Under 18 Girls.

Sean Berthelsen from West Linton beat his club-mate David McLeish in the Boys Under 18 final.
