SUNDAY saw Peebles County, Traquair and Currie/Balerno have the annual triangular competition at Whitstone Park with County coming out on top.

First game saw Traquair bat against a strong Peebles attack including Maxwell, A Pace (1w), Anderson (1W) and A Caddick (1W).

Angus Wolfe Murray led from the front but only Bailey and Kim Wolfe Murray made double figures totalling 64 off their 18 overs.

In reply 'Whistle was quickly run out leaving Fitzgerald (14), S Axon (29) and J Axon to knock the runs off in 11 overs.

The second game saw Traquair fall ten runs short at 113 with Hector Bailey stroking an attractive 28 and R Bhatia an honest 31.

In the deciding match county put Currie to the sword with majestic batting from Maxwell(32), Caddick (29) and Taylor a blast for 30. Burns flexed his muscles for 25 NO, setting a big ask of 153 off 18 overs. Burns, Pace and Anderson took a wicket a piece but man of the match Alan Caddick just missed his hat-trick taking 4-11 and an outstanding one handed catch.

The champagne moment went to Caddick P with a flip catch back from the boundary!

So County took the cup, Burns is sent to practice back garden cricket and the Caddicks sail into the sunset turning down IPL contracts!

Thanks also to Dave Fairholm for organising the day and Traquair for the annual bar-b-que.

County will return next season on the lookout for new members at Peeblescountycchitscricket.
