Tweeddale Rovers 1

Duns Reserves 0

ABERDEEN have been receiving plaudits for continuing their 100 percent record in the SPFL Premiership, but they are not the only team in Scotland to have done so.

Tweeddale Rovers have now won five from five in the Border Amateur ‘B’ Division and the latest win came against a strong Duns side. After advancing from the ‘C’ Division the Berwickshire men have started well, and will be looking to challenge for back to back promotions.

This was a close encounter which was hanging by a knife edge until Grant Wilson’s crucial winner. But the home side did have the better of both the play and chances, and deserved the three points.

Despite dominating the first half, Dale couldn’t find a tangible reward for their efforts. The game became more stretched in the second period with Duns threatening a lot more.

They came very close to taking the lead themselves but Bob Hall made a good save and Rhys Moffat blocked the follow up.

Blair Moffat had the ball in the net for Tweeddale but it was ruled out for offside. Having been the last player to touch it, from an onside position, it was impossible for him to have been offside.

Jamie Mackay suffered the same frustration after being played in by David Lindsay and side footing into the corner. If he was offside it must have been marginal.

The more they knocked on the door, the more they left themselves open to conceding, making for an intriguing affair. It became apparent that the game would likely be decided by a single goal.

Wilson and Lindsay both passed up chances before the winner did come.

Nick Rogers was the architect, unlocking the Duns defence with a clever pass. Wilson drilled low into the goal for the decisive breakthrough.

It was now about seeing the game out and that task was made easier when Duns were reduced to ten men. Lackenby was sent packing when he picked up his second booking.

A second could have arrived but for a bit more composure in the final third. In the end one was enough to keep this run going.
