THE Dragons (pictured) clawed back their place at the top of the league last weekend with a convincing win over previous league leaders the Bullets.

Scintillating shooting from captain and police officer Caroline Connaghan in particular ensured the strong attacks across mid-court from Scottish athlete Faye Nicholson in wing attack and Peebles High School PE teacher Jane Eyre were converted into goals; whilst the Bullets struggled for accuracy on goal, hassled by determined defence from Kate Thomson and Anna Miller.

Amongst the other matches the closest came at the close of the evening. Hotshots were under strength due to an injury to Jen Holmes, their regular wing defence, but this apart, the Hawks came in as underdogs and were threatening from the start.

The Hawks set play, well practised over recent weeks in training, at last came to fruition in match-play, with West Linton-based Eleanor Legg and Becs Norris in particular catching the eye.

The scoreline remained close throughout with Hotshots having chances to secure the match, but a last minute miss on goal by the Hotshots left the Hawks with the victory and much celebrating over their well crafted upset.

The next league night is Sunday 8th November with matches scheduled from 2.45pm to 9pm at Peebles High School games hall.
