THE Borders U15 netball squad travelled to Glasgow at the weekend for the second of three days of play in which they take on 11 other District squads from the south of Scotland.

Having secured three out of four wins on the first day of play, Borders were confident going into the second day.

And their confidence proved to be justified with three solid performances resulting in convincing scorelines.

Borders provided some eye-catching moves across mid-court, with Anna McGorum in particular in wing defence entertaining spectators with balanced and decisive interceptions.

Lucy Gray in wing attack again proved a force to be reckoned with, her strength increasing each time out and her dominance in attack impressive.

All four Borders shooters were on form on the day leading to very few misses on target and most attacking breaks resulting in goals.

Selectors were present to identify talented players to invite onto the East of Scotland Development Squad and news is awaited of selections.

Borders must secure a place in the top half of the south District section to qualify for final’s day against the best of the northern Districts.

Their victories over the last two play days bode well for qualification.

Borders U15 squad is sponsored by Caldwell’s Homemade Icecream.
