NEWLY promoted Peebles Ladies went into the new season determined not to be the team that made up the numbers in East Division 1,.

And they wanted to prove they deserved the right to be there.

The first game of the season saw them at home against border rivals Kelso, who were the team that pipped them to the league title the season before.

It was vital for the ladies to get off to a winning start to boost confident within the squad.

A winning start is exactly what was achieved with Peebles earning a well deserved 3-1 win.

Confidence was high and squad numbers were also on the up with the addition of new members.

The victories kept coming and the ladies went on to win their first six league games which saw them sitting top of division 1.

Unfortunately the winning steak stalled as the ladies went on to draw the next 3 games but on a plus point Peebles remained unbeaten and still top of the table.

The ladies had reached the half way point of the season and with one remaining game for 2015 before the Christmas break they were determined to get another win under their belt to remain top of the league.

It was an away trip to Kelso for the second and final border derby of the season. It was a physical and very close encounter which again Peebles edging out Kelso with a 3-2 victory.

The ladies would like to thank sponsors Thomson Gray Construction Consultants and JRD Motors for supplying new strips - maybe this is the secret to the ladies success so far this season.

Also thanks to Sandy, Kim and Stuart for umpiring and to our coach Stuart Lobb for his continued hard work.

The ladies first game back of the new year is a home game against Edinbugh Uni 7s on Saturday, January 30 at 3.15 pass back.

Supporters would be most welcome.

The ladies are determined to continue their success into 2016 and, who knows, promotion two years in a row would be nothing more that deserved.
