AS part of their current development program Peebles Lawn Tennis Club is currently researching the possibility of installing new all-weather surfaces for three courts.

It is hoped that a new surface can be funded and installed, for completion in time for the 2017 season.

Two existing hard courts will remain, however, the three blaes courts will be replaced enabling all-year play on the new courts which are, currently, subject to flooding following heavy rain.

Many different playing surfaces are now available and committee members recently visited four clubs around Edinburgh in order to play on various surfaces.

Clubs visited were Colinton Lawn Tennis Club, Grange Tennis Club, St Serfs and Musselburgh.

In spite of the cold weather and threat of rain, six members participated in the trial and were impressed with the modern surfaces.

President Rob Smith was joined by Hilary Legg, Anne McKinnon, Graeme Kirkpatrick, Gordon McLean, Louis Kirkpatrick and Gordon Russell on the tour.
