THE ever-expanding mantelpiece in the Howie household has another piece of silverware after brothers Craig and Darren combined to great effect to lift the Borders Challenge Trophy on Sunday.
An excellent two-under par foursomes score of 68 was good enough to secure the win on a beautiful Sunday morning, with the boys finishing ahead of another Peebles pair, Jamie Morris and Colin Fraser, to take one of the oldest – and biggest – trophies in Scottish Golf.
The boys are back in national action next weekend as the Scottish Stroke Play Championship heads to Gullane in East Lothian next week and they’ll be hoping their local knowledge can prove effective once again.
