ANDREW Cox led home the Moorfoot runners at the weekend in the third round of the Scottish Borders Hill Race Series.

A total of 58 runners took on the gruelling Yetholm Hill Race which has 7,500 feet of climbing over the 7.5 miles course.

Yetholm is a race of two halves, with some pathless rough and very steep ground largely following a boundary dyke until the high point at half way when the Pennine Way is used for the mainly down hill return.

The race was won by Doug Tullie of Hunters Bog Trotters in 1.08.31.

Andrew finished fifth in a time of 1.17.25.

Fellow Moorfoots Colin Williams was 7th in 1.22.04, Michael McGovern was 17th in 1.26.52, Darin Dougal crossed the line in 21st in a time of 1.29.38, Magnus Skea five places further back in 1.32.03, and Scott McDonald was 35th in a time of 1.38.35.
