COLIN Fraser came close to equalling his own course record at Peebles, which is jointly held by Norman Forsyth, last Wednesday after firing a superb 64 in the Stroke Competition.
His six under par score was just one off the club’s lowest ever round.
Opening with a birdie two, Fraser raced to the turn in 31 with further birdies at the 6th, 8th and 9th.
The scratch man quickly reached six-under par with his fourth consecutive birdie at the 11th, but with the magic number in his sights, dropped shots at 12 and 14, sandwiched by another birdie at the 13th.
An eagle was to elude him at the last but he snared yet another birdie on the final green to round off a brilliant round of golf, finishing top of the leaderboard by four shots.
