PLAYERS, family and friends of Peebles FC Youth section gathered recently to mark the end of another fine season with the annual awards evening at the Cardona hotel.

With the Euro 2016 ongoing there was a definite European theme with the main suite decorated with flags from the competing nations.

The evening was helped along the way by some top calibre guests in Doug Smith (former Chairperson of Hearts and honorary Chairman of Peebles FC), Craig Levein (former Hearts and Scotland captain and manager ,and now Technical Director of Hearts) and Kevin Thompson (currently with Hibs and formerly Rangers and Middlesbrough).

The guests each provided a brief insight into their life in football and shared their endorsement of how important evenings like this were to reward some players who have been recognised for their efforts during the year but equally applaud all players within each team for their efforts throughout this and previous seasons.

The format of the evening was altered from last year and included a number of fun events including the regular “last man standing” bingo and a challenging football quiz.

For some of the awards the players were selected by their team mates while some were selected by the coaches.
