PEEBLES Amateurs have pulled out of the Border Amateur leagues just two months after retaining the Sanderson Cup.
They had also earned a place in Division B after finishing third in Division C last season.
The Kerfield club were dealt a blow during the summer with player-manager Barry Thomson stepping down due to work commitments.
Several of last year's squad had also moved on to other clubs.
Despite a recent appeal for players in the Peeblesshire News, the club has not been able to recruit a big enough squad to kick off their league campaign.
A spokesman for Peebles Ams told us: "We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the Ams over the past 11 years especially former players, managers, coaches, committee members, Peebles FC, sponsors and pubs that have hosted us after games.
"Thanks also to the Border Amateur FA and all the teams we've had the pleasure of playing against."
