ON Sunday Tweed Valley members played at home against the final club on the fixture list this year when they faced a 14 strong team from Inverleith Pétanque Club at Kailzie Gardens, Peebles.
The Inverleith club has players who regularly play in the serious competitions such as home nations and internationals, so it always seems like a David and Goliath match for Tweed Valley.
It can be quite daunting to play against such seasoned players but as usual Tweed Valley were ready for the challenge.
As well as the expected losses for Tweed Valley there were some surprising wins although not enough to take the trophy away from Inverleith who won the competition by 9 games to 6.
One of Tweed Valley's newest members was pleased to say his team won two of their three games and had only been defeated by one point in the third. It was a good afternoon and everyone went away content that they had tried their best and no matter if they won or lost they had enjoyed the experience.
