UNDER-THREAT Hawick Legion put their troubles to one side with an impressive win at Biggar United.

The club lost co-managers Mark Deans and Tony Craggs amid concerns about players not training, which in turn has led to fears that Legion may have to drop out of Division B.

But after a long trek to Carnwath, Legion triumphed 4-1 thanks to a Scott Duncan double, as well as goals from Callum Hope and Darrel Johnstone.

Rory Mellors smashed a hat-trick past Earlston Rhymers in an emphatic 4-0 win while Newtown fought back from 2-1 down at half-time to win 6-2 over Coldstream Amateurs and go top of Division B.

Stow kept up their 100 per cent record in Division A with a hard fought 2-0 win over Langholm Legion. Paul Young opened the scoring in the first half before Jay Wilson added a second.

West Barns Star had Calum Casey sent off but still won 3-1 at Greenlaw, with Alan McLean, Steven Girwood and Jake Johnstone on target.

Division C saw wins for Berwick Colts, CFC Bowholm and Melrose.

There was plenty of cup action on Saturday, with Tweeddale Rovers being knocked out of the Scottish Amateur Cup after a 3-1 defeat to Edinburgh side Lochend Amateurs, with Craig Mullins scoring for the Peebles side.

Chirnside United will host West Barns Star in the quarter finals of the Border Cup after beating Tweedmouth Amateurs 4-2.

Andrew Oldham and Dale Cockburn scored to send Kelso Thistle through to the next round of the Wright Cup while Gala Hotspur produced an improved showing but a Liam Lavery hat-trick meant they still lost 7-3 to Hawick United in the same competition.

Lauder looked set to make it past Duns Amateurs after a Mark Williamson double, and goals from Macauley Steele, Ben Gettel and Cammy Moffat put them 5-4 up in extra time in the Collie Cup.

But a Grant Wilson double sent the Dingers through to play Berwick Colts, while St Boswells will face Kelso Amateurs after hammering Ancrum 5-0.
