THE U17 Borders District netball squad, involving nine Peebles Netball players, were in action this weekend in Perth when all of Scotland’s 20 U17 District squads came together for qualifying matches to determine which eight Districts will make up this season’s performance tier.
Borders performed with distinction in their section of seven teams.
With only the top three assured of a place in the elite tier, five wins in a row for Borders sealed their place for this season.
Borders led at the start in their final match against South Lanarkshire, but a few loose passes and unforced errors allowed their opponents back in the game, preventing Borders from gaining their clean sweep.
Borders play the first of their performance tier matches at the end of October in the new Oriam venue at Heriot Watt University.
Borders U17s: Bryony Patterson (Capt) (GD), Eilidh Cannon (GS), Rianna Sterricks (GA), Abbey Scrimger (GS), Lucy Gray (WA/C), Kazya Stevens (WA/C), Sophie Peterson (C), Sophie Walpole (WD), Jess Wodehouse (GK).
