A PEEBLESSHIRE netball star has been honoured at the sport's awards evening.

Netball Scotland held their annual awards in the Scottish Parliament last weekend, and Peebles Netball was delighted when one of their home-grown Scottish Thistles, Lauren Tait, from West Linton, was awarded the prestigious title of national Under 21 Player of the Year.

Lauren played with Peebles Netball throughout her high school years, and was selected for Scotland Under 19 and Under 21 squads before receiving her full Scottish Thistle cap last season.

Now at Stirling University and playing for Glasgow Saltires along with other former Peebles Netball teammates, Scottish Thistle Jo Pettitt and previous age group international player Jenny Hudson, Lauren has gone from strength to strength in national circles.

A ball girl at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Lauren’s award reflects her rapid progress with her sites now firmly set on playing on the court at the 2018 Gold Coast games rather than watching from the sidelines.
