TWEED valley Pétanque Club club members lined up for the annual singles competition at Kailzie Gardens Peebles.

Everyone played three games before the top two had to play one last game to decide the winner.

There was plenty time between games for the members to enjoy a seat in the sun with a hot or cold drink while watching others play.

The last game of the afternoon before the final was Gillian Brown against Tommy Quinn and as Gillian had won her first two games a check of the scoreboard showed that the final depended on the result of this game.

Gillian had to win by three points to go through.

This was her third tough game of the day and it went right to the last point with a win of 13 – 12 for Gillian, not quite enough for the final.

Irene Quinn and Kenny Brown went through to play the deciding game.

Kenny took an early lead and it looked as if it was going to be a very short game.

Irene eventually got on the board and managed to overtake Kenny with 11 points to his 10. One final end and Kenny got all three points making him the singles champion for the year.

Well done Kenny.
