PEEBLES coach Ewen Robbie believes his team can push for promotion this season as long as they continue their 10-month long undefeated run at home.

Fortress The Gytes has been impregnable in the national leagues since Jed-Forest snatched a win on December 12, 2015.

Even during last season's relegation the Pees produced memorable performances on home soil.

And they have continued to stretch the unbeaten run to almost half way through this season.

Tomorrow Whitecraigs will come calling and Robbie hopes the improving form of his young team will be enough to claim the points.

Ewen told us: "Our home form has been impressive, even last season when we were fighting for survival we pulled out the results.

"If we can keep that fortress mentality that we've built up it will put us in a good position for pushing towards promotion.

"It is pressure rugby yet again this season, but, unlike last season, for the reasons you want.

"We are on a bit of a run just now and we want that to continue against Whitecraigs - it won't be easy but we are capable."

Robbie and head coach Drew Moore have helped develop the young squad they inherited into National League Two title challengers.

And with the current top two - Cartha Queen's Park and GHK - meeting tonight, a victory tomorrow could propel the Pees into the promotion places.

Ewen added: "We know if we beat Whitecraigs we will close in, or maybe even overtake, one of the teams at the top.

"We have Cartha next week, which will be a massive game, and we want to go there on the back of another win.

"We want to be up their challenging and testing ourselves every week.

"Peebles is still going through a rebuilding phase but we are going in the right direction.

"We have a good young team who are improving, and our backs are as dangerous as you will find at this level.

"There is work to do and improvements to be made, but if we do these things right we can take this team a long way."

Two of the backs were due to have fitness tests last night and may miss Saturday's clash with Whitecraigs.

But an unnamed replacement has been lined up to join the squad and could feature.

Biggar, who lost some ground last weekend, will be looking to bounce back tomorrow when they have home advantage over Kirkcaldy.

Both National League Two matches are due to kick off at 3pm.
