EVERGREEN athletes from across Britain and Ireland battled it out in Glasgow on Saturday for the Masters Cross Country Championships.

Hawick's Dianne Lauder helped Scotland Over 35s to gold at Tollcross Park with a terrific fourth place finish.

The Gala Harrier was joined on top of the podium by team-mates Gillian Palmer and Michelle Sandison.

England claimed second with Ireland in bronze.

Susan Ridley from Peebles, fresh from team gold with Great Britain at the World Masters in Australia, collected a team silver in the Over 50s.

Sue's eighth place helped Scotland finish just behind the England team.

There were also bronze medals for Gala Harriers duo Fiona Dalgleish and Jenny Forbes in the Over 45s race.

Fiona's ninth and Jenny's 12th place finish saw the Scotland team finish just behind winners England and runners-up Ireland.
