GLENTRESS was alive at the weekend with an invasion of athletes.

Saturday evening's Night Trail 10k attracted almost 300 runners of all abilities with their headtorches.

And the following morning a further 261 athletes completed the scenic half-marathon.

Saturday's night run was won by Luke Park in a time of 42.37 minutes with Kieron Ross in second and Adam Park third.

Claire Ward was first woman home, just ahead of Kathleen Henderson and Katie Walling.

A total of 284 runners completed the night run.

Amongst the local Moorfoots runners taking part were Alex Nisbet, who finished sixth woman, only a minute off second place.

Katy Carrick-Anderson also ran well to record ninth in the F40 category.

Sunday morning's chill didn't put off another bumper entry.

The off-road half marathon was won by Dessie Flanagan in a time of 1.30.39.

Iain Manson was two minutes back in second with Mark Webster a further two minutes back in third.

Innerleithen's Darin Dougal charged home to take fourth for the local Moorfoots club.

Catriona Buchanan crossed the line in 14th to take the women's title.

Megan Wright was second woman home with Mary McCutcheon in third.

And Rosie Watson took fourth place for the Moorfoots club.

Amongst the several good performances from local Moorfoots were Colin Williams who finished 8th, Magnus Skea in 19th, and Peter Hall in 27th.

Paul Nichol ran strongly to finish eighth in the Over 50s category.
