Peebles Rockets 24-14 Bass Rocketeers

Peebles Rockets 39-7 Edinburgh Pearls

PEEBLES Netball’s youngest Scottish Youth Cup squad, the U13 Rockets, took the court twice over the last week in their quest to progress to the knock-out stages of the Cup.

In a regional group of four, they need to secure three wins to be sure of progressing through to the next stage.

And they lived up to their name, with a blast of a home match against newly formed North Berwick’s Bass Rocketeers.

Both teams came out strongly with only one goal to separate them at half time, but calm and well executed attacking drives made the difference in the second half, enabling Peebles to gain ground and achieve the final victory.

Travelling away to the new Oriam venue at Heriot Watt University Campus for a mid-week match, Peebles young guns once again produced a winning performance against Edinburgh Netball Club’s U13 Pearls.

The Rockets got off to a commanding start, leading by 10 goals to 1 after one quarter, but a change in line up left them vulnerable in the second quarter, enabling the Pearls to dominate the play and win that stage. A reshuffle of Peebles players got the Rockets back on track, leading to their convincing win by 39 goals to 7.

The Rockets play their final regional match in the new year against the capital’s Holyrood Aces.

Peebles Rockets: Lucy Smith (Capt), Nairne Wells (Vice Capt), Erin Ackerman, Lorna Adams, Elouise Farndon, Cerys Finn, Erin Fulton, Rachel Lothian, Jessica Mitchell, Keeley Rippin.
