Peebles Rovers 4

Burntisland Shipyard 0

ROVERS recorded their biggest win of the season on Saturday to give manager Gerry Rossi plenty of festive cheer.

In a dominant performance from Peebles where the only surprise is that the scoreline wasn't even greater.

Visiting keeper Cammy Lambie pulled off a couple of excellent saves early to thwart early home pressure.

And David Lindsay will still be wondering how he missed his chance as the first half wore on.

It wasn't all one-way traffic, though, and Ben McGinley had to be on his guard as Aaran Haddow raced through only to fire over.

But probably the miss of the half came as James Runciman blasted inches over the Burntisland bar with the goal gaping.

Shipyard began the second half brightly with McGinley saving well from Ewan Fotheringham.

But Peebles were still enjoying the lion's share of possession with Rossi and Runciman showing up well in the heart of midfield.

Lambie made another outstanding save before he was finally beaten approaching the hour.

And it took a wicked deflection off defender Craig Hamilton to find the net.

Lindsay evaded the offside trap to round Lambie for Peebles' second goal.

And to make matters worse for the visitors the keeper was red carded for his remarks to the referee.

On 76 minutes Alan McMath produced a tremendous finish to make it 3-0.

And, as Peebles laid siege on the Shipyard goal, youngster Robbie Renwick smashed a fourth into the net.
