PEEBLES first team coach Ewen Robbie says his side are “buzzing” going into their crunch match against table-toppers Kelso.

The Pees currently sit third in the BT National Division 2 and have gone five games unbeaten in the league.

And Robbie says his side are desperate to keep up the promotion push.

He told the Peeblesshire News: “It is going to be a tough game against Kelso, and I think there is going to be a couple of boys missing.

“But we are going to go there and give it our best shot. We have plenty of momentum and we have got a lot of young guys impressing all the time.

“Now we have to take this opportunity to push on.

“All we can ask is that the players give it their best shot and that’s all they can do. But there is a lot of confidence at the moment. They’re all up for it. Everybody’s buzzing.”

The match will also be Robbie’s last with Peebles, before he heads to Philiphaugh to take on his new role as development officer at Selkirk.

He added: “I have really enjoyed my time here at Peebles and we have done well.

“This is a good opportunity for me which I am looking forward to. But it has been great working with the lads at Peebles.”
Kelso have only lost one game in the league this season, away at Biggar way back on September 10.

And just three weeks later they were held to a draw by Peebles (22-22) at the Gytes.

Kick-off is at 2pm at Poynder Park.

Elsewhere, ninth-placed Biggar travel to Burnbrae to face 10th-placed West of Scotland.

Biggar have been beaten in their last six league games, but have faced four of the top five during that period.

Meanwhile, West of Scotland haven’t won any of their last five, a run that dates back to November.

Their last win came in October when they defeated Androssan Academicals (16-17) at the Memorial Field Pavillion, so both sides will be looking to improve their form to lift themselves up the division.

Kick-off for that game is also 2pm.
