ONE of rugby's all-time greats thrilled guests in Peebles at the weekend with the haka.

Zinzan Brooke was the main guest at the Bill McLaren Foundation dinner, which was organised in conjunction with Peebles Rugby Club.

And the 58-times-capped All Black didn't disappoint as he recalled his adventures from on and off the field.

Brooke remains many pundits' best ever player to pull on a number eight jersey.

As well as scoring 17 tries for New Zealand he also once kicked a 48-metre drop goal against England in the 1995 World Cup.

As well as a hugely entertaining talk, Zinzan performed the haka, signed memorabilia and posed for photos throughout the Hydro dinner.

With illness preventing England's Brian Moore from attending, his boots were filled by the Irish and British Lion wing-forward Fergus Slattery.

Slattery was also in fine form with his stories from inside both the Irish and Lions camps.

Scott Glenn was master of ceremonies for the evening.

Funds raised from the evening will go towards the development of rugby in Tweeddale.
