PEEBLES cyclists have returned from the latest round on the Scottish Cross Country series with a haul of medals.

Round 2 in Dunoon, hosted by Cowan MTB club, featured relentless challenging climbs in the 7km loop as well as natural, technical and twisting sections through the trees, ending with a steep grassy descent by a reservoir.

More than 20 Peebles Cycling Club riders took the short ferry ride from Gourock and they were rewarded with some fantastic racing.

Louis Thornley won the Under 8s race with team-mate Isaac Bread also reaching the podium in third.

Oisin Beard matched his brother's performance by finishing third in the Under 10s race.

Daisy Wilkinson was unfortunate just to miss out on a medal in her Under 10s race.

But further success was to follow with Emily Carrick-Anderson striking gold in the Under 12s.

Christina McGorum earned a bronze medal in the same race with fellow Peebles riders Ruby Thornley finishing well for eighth.

Both Peebles riders narrowly missed out in the Boys Under 12s with Ethan Blaen finishing sixth and Ben Allan taking ninth.

Corran Carrick-Anderson followed his sister onto the top of the podium with a tremendous win in the Juveniles race.

Callum Thornley made it a Peebles one-two by beating Pro Vision's Ben McMullen to the silver medal.

Fellow Peebles riders Ruairidh Johnson, Thomas Richardson and Benjamin Gates came home in fifth, sixth and 11th respectively.

Elena McGorum kept the winning streak going by taking the hotly contested Juvenile Girls race.

And there was further success for the McGorum household when Anna claimed gold in the Youths race.

Emily Wilkinson was just edged out of a medal in the same race.

But there was still time for one more Peebles gold medal as Megan Wilkinson came home first in the Junior Girls race.

Russell Brown, Thomas Richardson and Benjamin Gates were all just outside the medals in the Boys Youths race.

Crawford Carrick-Anderson turned back the clock in the Veterans race to take a well-deserved silver medal.

Fellow Peebles vet Roy Richardson crossed the finishing line in tenth.

Anna and Elena McGorum and Corran Carrick-Anderson are all sponsored athletes by ClubSport Tweeddale.
