Peebles Pulse 38

Edinburgh Rubies 24

REIGNING Scottish Youth Cup U15 champions, Peebles Pulse, travelled into the capital on Sunday to play their semi-final of the Scottish Youth Cup. A repeat of last year’s final, the friendly rivalry between two great teams, Peebles and Edinburgh, was sure to provide an entertaining and competitive contest.

And so it transpired, with the teams locked together throughout much of the first half, Peebles Pulse holding on to a fragile lead of 17 goals to 13 with two quarters to play.

But a re-vamp of positions by Peebles started to pay dividends with the Borderers stretching their lead to 28 goals to 19 going into the final stage.

The final quarter showed Peebles Pulse at their best, wholly focused and unstoppable.

The final scoreline of 38 goals to 24 was rewarding for the second half performance.

The challenge in the finals will be to secure that level of play from the start of the match.

Peebles Pulse join their teammates Peebles Rockets (U13s) in the Scottish Youth Finals at the Oriam in Edinburgh on Saturday, June 3.

This is the 11th year in succession that Peebles has been represented on finals’ day, which brings together the top two clubs in Scotland at U13, U15 and U17 age groups. The record is unprecedented.
