PEEBLES Netball is celebrating the recent national selections of a current and a former player.

Fourteen year old Ellie O’Hara, fresh from setting a new Scottish age group record for triple jump, has turned her hop, step and jump to her advantage on the netball court.

The Cardrona teenager's elevation and speed have caught the eye of talent scouts at the East of Scotland Netball Development Centre, who selected her for a national squad of 16 to compete in invitational matches in Lisburn, Northern Ireland.

Ellie played in the winning match against Northern Ireland Under 16s.

Former Peebles Netball player, Lauren Tait, who recently made a presentation at the club’s awards night, was named this week in Scotland’s Under 21 squad for the Netball World Youth Cup in Gaborone, Botswana.

Lauren has emerged as one of Scotland’s top defenders over recent years, gaining her Scottish Thistle Cap and starring on Sky in the Scottish Superleague team, the Sirens, along with another former Peebles player, Jo Pettitt.

Lauren, who is currently Netball Scotland’s Under 21 player of the year, will head out to Botswana in July.
