VALE of Leithen chairman Stuart Robertson has blasted Premiership new boys Hibs after they pulled out of a glamour friendly at the last minute.
The Easter Road club were due to play at Victoria Park on Wednesday evening.
But on Monday the Lowland League club was told by Hibernian officials that due to injuries the team wouldn’t be able to honour the fixture.
Furious Robertson told us: “We have everything prepared for the game.
“We have programmes printed, the catering is all bought and our new goalposts have been put up - then totally out of the blue we get a call saying they can’t come.
"We've had people out putting up posters and promoting this game for weeks - this was our big game of the pre-season.
“Surely a club the size of Hibs can send a team down to Innerleithen.”
Hibernian are due to play Berwick Rangers this evening in a friendly at Shielfield Park.
And on Saturday they entertain Montrose in the League Cup.
Despite calling off the friendly in Innerleithen, Hibernian are still advertising the match on their website.
Vale's next home pre-season match is against Arniston Rangers on Saturday, July 22.
