A RECORD total of 47 teams and 188 competitors took part in our annual Odd Shaped Ball Golf Day on Saturday at Peebles Golf Club with a mix of young and old, men and women, members and guests, Scotland internationalists and hackers alike supporting the popular event.

Congratulations go to the winning team of Sheila Cuthbertson, Eden Collins, Braden Collins and Gregor Wells who took top spot with a superb score of 55, playing with a handicap of 18.

The quartet took home a £30 voucher each and a 4-ball at Crail Golfing Society's Craighead Links, as well as the coveted Odd Shaped Ball silver shades.

It was great to see Sheila teaming up with her young grandson Gregor, along with two other emerging juniors Eden and Braden, while competitors also had the chance to watch Scotland international Craig Howie up close and personal in the 12th hole challenge.

Runners-up were Darren Massey, Gary Muir, James Morrison and Fraser Richards on 57.1 while Ross Duncan Hugh Harvie, Grant Foster and Mark Hosker were 3rd on 58.5.

The quartet of Darren Davidson, Scott Mackay, Kenny McKay and Gordon Beveridge took fourth place on 59, with Gordon enjoying a hole in one at the 16th hole…using one of the ClubGolf junior plastic clubs!

A spokesman for Peebles Golf Club said: "Thanks to the generosity of everyone who took part, helping to raise a total of over £2,000.

"Proceeds go towards the supporting junior golf development.

"Well done to the ClubGolf coaching team who organised the day and thanks to Ally McGrath for providing the BBQ. A big thanks also to our prize sponsors - Belhaven Brewery, ShotScope Performance Technology, How-Did-I-Do & Club Systems, Duddingston GC and Crail Golfing Society."
