IT was finals day at Peebles Bowling Club on Sunday.

And the action on a perfect looking green lived up to its billing.

The Ladies Championship proved to be a thriller with Dot Lavin collecting her fifth successive title.

But she was made to battle all the way by Pam Yuill, who was competing in her first final.

Pam held her nerve to take the game to a final end after playing several outstanding pressure bowls to pull the tie back to 20-20.

The more experienced Dot, though, managed to edge the final end for a narrow 21-20 victory.

The Gents final wasn't quite so close with Stewart Douglas playing some excellent bowls to secure his sixth title with a 21-09 victory over Lawrence Lavin.

The opening final of the day saw Alan Gordon beating Andy Lowrie to claim the Two-Bowl title.

Congratulations were offered to club president Thomas Cleland for his organisation of the finals day and also to Sandra Clyde who organised the catering throughout the day.
